I Don’t Know What To Do! HELP!?

My dogs got in a fight again and both of them are bleeding on the ears we have already given them some open wound spray stuff. We do have puppies and we did try and separate the mother and other dog apart but they stopped fighting for a good 2 – 3 weeks so we thought it was over than they had another fight. I don’t know what to do, my dad doesn’t want to take her to obedience school but I know this will happen again.. She is only 2 and we love her but she is very silly and aggressive with other dogs ( not the puppies and not the mother ) I want to know what to do.. I don’t want to see them get hurt again.. ;(

Little Mini Dachshund Problem!!?

okay I have a 2 year old mini dachshund who has major issues and I am so worried for him, I feel so bad as a owner to these problems. He hates Dogs, Humans and already attacks people, I have only been the first bitten person to his tiny sharp teeth but believe me I am scared someone else will be next. he has an attitude were he wont listen to me at all and listens very little to my husband. I want to bring him to obediance school badly and never did before because the people around near me never had a mini dachshund that they trained and seemed not to care for little dogs, so instead of just paying to get him help. I got him fixed thinking it would help the aggression. but it made it worse!!! I use a news paper to tap not wack his nose because when I scold him, he will show his teeth and go at me. I dont know what to do. I just want him to be happy and not hurt anyone, but is it too late for obedience school and turning his bad behaviors around!?!?!
also he doesnt go after me because of the news paper I have tried tons of other methods to help us both but none seem to work.
ahh all dogs get tapped with anything, atleast I dont beat him like most people would do. its not killing him that he gets a tap, thats insaine and he was out and about he went to fairs and stuff and loved people as a pup, but now he turned hatred to them for some reason
got him from my motherinlaw and the father of my little doxie was very aggressive because she never trained him or corrected him for bad behavior. she recently had to get his dad fixed because he kept bitting her in the face. so we know why he has aggression I guess. I didnt know it could be passed down. but his mum is a lamb.

Help! My 10 month old lab is driving me nuts!!?

We adopted this lab from the Humane Society when he was 6 months old. We are in our second obedience class, and he seemed to be doing better, but now he has gotten right back where we started if not worse. He is barking/growling at us, biting, grabbing pillows off of couches, getting up on the counters, taking things off of tables, etc.

We take him for 2 walks a day, or one walk and one trip to the dog park to run with the other dogs, so it shouldn’t be an exercise issue. We try to be pack leaders, and know it’s importance. What is crazy is that when he’s done something wrong, he cowers when we see him like he knows he was bad, but still misbehaves afterwards like nothing happened. We’ve used a shock collar before, but that didn’t help much. Our obedience school tells us not to spank him because we will lose the respectful relationship that we’ve built with him. They told us to gently grab his jowls and shake it while saying “no”. This only works briefly.

What can I do?
Thanks for all of the responses. To answer some of your questions:

-Yes, he is crate training. He is in there whenever we are not home.

-He only has free run of the 1st floor. He cannot go in the basement and only goes in one room upstairs.

-He just runs with pillows. He hasn’t shredded yet. He growls when I come to take it away from him, but I really think he just wants to play and he knows the pillows will get me to go pay attention to him, but he gets lots of attention. So…?

-We do have immediate corrections for misbehavior, but they are only verbal like “no” or “no bite”.

-His story was that he was left at the HS as a puppy, another family adopted him, and then let him loose because he was too much for them. Animal control found him, called the family, and they didn’t want him. Then my husband and I adopted him a few weeks after that. We believe he might have been beaten, but we don’t know for sure.

-He has TONS of toys and we rotate them often.

Need ideas on training a difficult puppy?

We got her when she was 7 months old and she had no training at all.
We have 2 older dogs, one is very old and the other is 6, they are all beagles. They are both very well behaved. All are adopted and all are female.
She came to us with a crate which we don’t have much use for except for when we leave the house without her.
I have tried everything to get her to stop going in the garbage, chasing the cat and going wild when she gets fed.
I have tried to get her to sit and she just won’t do it! She has been here for 2 months now. I used positive reinforcement to teach her to go outside and that was a breeze. I know that the rest of the bad behaviors would be fixed if I could have her sit when I tell her too. She sees the other two listening to us and I thought that would help.
I have tried to use treats but she goes nuts trying to get the food and doesn’t listen. I have also tried without treats. I have spent more than ample time with her on a daily basis. She even tries to take treats out of the other 2 dogs mouths!
She was purchased in September by a friend, she couldn’t train her so she went to someone else. Then she wound up at my mother’s until we could bring her to our house. She has been here long enough to have settled down.
The last two dogs I had as puppies by this age would sit and wait until I said OK to even go to their bowls and had mastered many other commands.
The only other thing she knows is to come when I call her.
As far as the cat goes, she gets scratched on a regular basis and she just keeps going back for more. If I call the cat or say her name the puppy comes bounding up in her face so I can hardly spend any quality time with the cat who has no problem with the other 2 dogs.
She is very stubborn…typical beagle, I know.
Any tips would be great. My only other idea is obedience school.
I can’t decide which answer is best, it is a toss up between Maria L and Peggy Swager.
Thanks to both of you, I will be using ideas from both of you and plan to buy your book Peggy

What is your opinion on Pit Bulls?

I have been looking for an apartment and I can’t find any that don’t discriminate against Pit Bulls. They all have a 25 pound weight limit and one person I talked to even called me crazy for owning such a dog. One of my biggest pet peeves is breed specific laws and restrictions. Punish the deed, not the breed. I want to know what other people think. Am I crazy for owning a Pit Bull, or am I justified in being mad? I refuse to give up my dog who is like my own child.

My Pit Bull is one of the calmest and loving dogs I’ve ever had. The only people she doesn’t like are people who beat women and people she thinks pose a threat. I have never, NOT ONCE, had a problem with her attacking anyone or anything. (She has also gone through thousands of dollars worth of obedience school and training) This is why I’m so against this kind of discrimination. AND IT IS DISCRIMINATION!!! It’s not fair to write off every dog that is of a specific breed just because all you hear is the bad things associated with that breed.

Now that I’m done with my mini rant, and believe me I could go on forever, please let me know what you think!
