Specific questions on Akitas?

Sorry that I’m asking obvious questions but I’d like some help. For the Akita would this be experienced, owning a well trained Dalmations, Malmutes, a border collie mix,. Also can they be trusted with a opposite sex dog(spayed)that is not a fighting breed and fixed cats that don’t fight the dogs. Also I did read that Akita’s don’t do well in obedience school and need to be trained with you is that true. Plus can they be ok with kids between (7-9 youngest). Sorry this is so long but the question is do they need to be socialized way more the most breeds and what kind of socialization is good for their breed. Sorry for bad punctuation it usually isn’t like me
Also are American or Japanese lines more calm because I am looking for a even as possible temerament(home insurance doesn’t apply).
Also if you get them into training immediately will they still be a struggle to teach leadership or will it be once you establish leader ship over them as a puppy and keep going they will be loyal. And will they test your leadership a lot and if you could could you link a website on how to train them.
Also I read that the Akita Inu is more of a companion than the Akita is that true and if that is which one is better for a person new to Akitas and which on is less dominant.

Aggressive male pomeranian?

So this is my third question about my dogs but I am expecting my first child in the next month and am trying to correct my dogs’ bad behavior before he arrives. I adopted a 2 year old male pom last summer who was fixed two weeks prior to us getting him….anyways, he is the sweetest thing to my boyfriend and I, always on our laps, bringing us toys, kissing, sleeping under the covers with us, etc….but when someone walks by the house he goes crazy in the window, or when people come over to our house he jumps up and bites them in the rear. He has bit several people, the only people he doesn’t bite is us, my mom and my best friend because they are over so often he knows them. He also goes crazy when I’m walking him and he sees another person or dog, there have been times when hes got off the leash and chased/bit people and attacked their dogs…I feel horrible, he has never actually hurt or broken the skin on anyone but it really bothers me that I can not take him anywhere without his aggression controlling our entire trip..EXAMPLE: my family has a house on a lake where people let their dogs run around and I take them out there when I go swimming. My female interacts with other dogs and swims around and stays in the yard while he sits and watches for someone to chase/bite. There was a big brown lab who wondered into our backyard once and he chased him to the other side of the lake (lucky the lab was not aggressive!)…Is there a way for me to stop this without taking him to obedience school because we cannot afford it right now with bills and baby coming…..?

Do prong collars hurt puppies?

My puppy ( Lab & Collie ) is extremely rambunctious and sometimes I feel like he might unintentionally harm my little one that will be arriving soon. I’ve had him for a while and training him myself isn’t really working. So, I’m enrolling him into obedience school before I have my baby. The obedience school I found requires the use of prong collars. I’ve never seen them before in life, besides a picture on the website and they kind of look like torture devices. Yikes! Do they actually harm or hurt the dog? Is it okay to use for puppies? My pup is 13 weeks old, but he’s only a little larger than a miniature poodle. Is it sensible to have them as a requirement for all dogs being trained, regardless of their size, temperament, etc?
Thanks in advance for your advice / opinions.
In this school, the collar is not used for just walking, but for all training.

What is so bad about buying two puppies from the same litter?

I have two yellow labs who are 11 months old. They are brother and sister from the same litter (they are both spayed and neutered). I was reading a few things before I got them about how they never truly love their family because they always have each other but my dogs love every single of of my family members to the point where if one of us leaves the house they will start whining. I also read that they will never know their own names. Both of my dogs one hundred percent know their own names. i trained them each myself (I am 17) with a small help from my dad and mom. We can’t exactly afford obedience school for the both of them. They know almost all of the commands (i haven’t been able to do play dead yet). We first took them for walks by themselves but now that they are trained to walk properly, we walk them together. While me and my siblings are at school and my parents are at work, we lock them up in different rooms on our first floor because of the trouble they would cause if they were together. Somebody told me that they weren’t well bred dogs if the owner sold them both to us but my mom was dying for two so we begged the lady to sell them to us. and we give them both space away from each other often (let them outside at different times so I can play with each individually) We have time for both of them and trained them individually. They are the perfect dogs. i don’t see what’s so bad about having both of them from the same litter. But then again, I’m not a dog expert. So could you enlighten me?
Steve E, obviously I would have a fault. As I said, I’m no dog expert. I’m sure people like you could find any fault in the way someone teaches their dogs but I did my best and they have turned out fine.

Golden Retriever Puppy Info?

I am thinking of buying a golden retriever puppy from this link:

http://bayarea.ebayclassifieds.com/dogs-puppies/san-jose/golden-retriever-akc-very-cute-pure-breed-puppy/?ad=8067934

But I’m not sure if the puppies are from puppy mills or not. And also they look kind of sad. Do you think they are healthy puppies? And do you think that is a trustworthy person to buy a puppy from? I really want a golden retriever puppy, but they don’t have any left in the rescue shelters.
By the way, I live in San Jose, CA. I want one that’s under $700. Also, what’s the likelihood that my dog will get hip dysplasia?
Also, do golden retrievers have a lot of health problems? How many times should I bring it to the vet a year? By the way, I am 13. Do you think golden retrievers can be obedient without going to obedience school?
I used to have a Pomeranian and back then I wasn’t prepared and I was 7. Whenever I opened the backyard door, my pomeranian kept on trying to come inside. And it peed everywhere and stole my food.
Do you think Golden Retrievers would be like that? Do you think Golden Retrievers should live inside or outside? My mom doesn’t want it to live inside because it will pee everywhere. Also, do Goldens bark a lot? And do they bite people?
What things should I buy to prepare for a Golden Retriever? How big should the dog carrier be? How big should the bed be? What dog food brand do you think is the best for retrievers? I’m kind of scared my dog’s gonna get hip dysplasia.
Do I really have to walk my dog for an hour a day? What about when its a puppy? Should a puppy eat different food than an adult? When is a dog considered an adult? How will I control my dog when it gets so big? Because then it will be too big to carry.
Sorry for asking so many questions, but please answer them. Please? Thanks! Also, where can I get Golden Retrievers that aren’t from puppy mills near the Bay Area?

How can i get my pitbull to stop pulling me?

Argh…. My boyfriends dog is driving me a lil crazy. Normally he is a very well behaved dog, gets along with people, cats, kids, other dogs fine and seems to listen fairly well for simple commands such as sit and stay and be gentle but he gets really excited when we go for walks and I spend the whole time till we get to the playground (where we play fetch) being dragged behind my overly stoked dog. Usually at this point I make him stop and wait until he obeys my command to sit before we continue to head to the park. I also do this with him before we leave the house to put on his leash, and I make sure he is calm and sitting, waiting for me to walk out the door first and beckon him after me. (I’ve been watching the dog whisperer so I was trying some of his tips but I only have control for the next, oh 5 seconds? till my ADD dog smells something else) Any tips would be appreciated… I’ve tried holding balls and sticks to keep his attention, but then he just makes leaping attack jumps trying to get whatever I have for him to play with…. He’s a pretty big dog, so its a lil scary to be yanked around like that, just in case he is ever around people or other animals who aren’t friendly to him. Also, Its just not fun to take him places where we have to keep him on the leash, you spend the whole time getting your arm yanked off and feeling stupid because you are going where your dog wants to go, lol… but at the beach when he can run free, he does great and sticks close by, almost like he was on a leash anyways..
any tips would help! I don’t really want to do obedience school with him but i don’t know what else to do!
